Evangelical Central Archives in Berlin
The Evangelical Central Archives in Berlin have the responsibility for the documents of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) as also its predecessors. The Evangelical Central Archives collect personal papers of important evangelical personages, documents of associations and societies of cross-regional importance. Among its holdings there are about 6,000 parish registers from German parishes belonging to the former Prussian church.
The main purpose of the Evangelical Central Archives is to decide whether documents are assigned a lasting value, to preserve them permanently and to make them available for use. Usage on the premises is possible at any time during the opening hours under the provisions of the archival law.
